Blast From My Past: Discovery Toys Gears Go Round!

I couldn’t recall the exact name of the toy until it was gifted to me and I could read the box. It’s called “Gears Go Round.” It was kind of like Legos, but the bricks were bigger and the texture was softer, and had pokey dots to decorate with and attach spinning gears to.

Another Nostalgic Find

I recently visited my aunt who’s been downsizing her home–yes the same one as in this story about her Marble Works. As she continued to sort through boxes of memories, she unearthed another delightful surprise: another Discovery Toys toy from my childhood! This one is for me to keep!

I remember playing with this with my cousins at her house during a childhood Christmas visit. It sparked my imagination. When I got home, I begged my mom for my own. And sure enough, it appeared in my Easter basket!

I couldn’t recall the exact name of the toy until it was gifted to me and I could read the box. It’s called “Gears Go Round.” It was kind of like Legos, but the bricks were bigger and the texture was softer, and had pokey dots to decorate with and attach spinning gears to. It was really cool when you could make a gear turn another gear and turn another one and make a chain of gear turning which then turns a little man on a carrosel.

It’s a tangible piece of my childhood. I’m grateful to my aunt for sharing this treasure with me.
