Do say toys can be educational?
Yes, but I also say the same for any household object because the it is the experience of play that produces learning outcomes. Toys (or household objects) are just the medium through which children engage in play. Creative and thrifty parents and teachers can make Educational toys from household objects.
Do I recommend children have fewer toys? Yes, because fewer toys of greater quality lead to less anxiety and more imaginative play!
Do I promote giving gifts of experiences instead of toys? Absolutely! Because…experiences with family can boost your kid’s intelligence and happiness. Picnics, vacations, afternoons at the pool, hikes, trampoline park, zoo trips, aquarium passes….all wonderful experiences are valuable to a child’s development and happiness.
The “experience” of playing with your family also contributes to their development and happiness. Some days are better than others, and having a shared experience together is nice for creating a good experience.
