Keeping Track of all the Developmental Milestones
When it comes to developmental milestones, do you have a hard time keeping track? I do. I am an early intervention professional, and I sometimes have a hard time remembering when typical developmental milestones occur. My facts get swirled around though because all day long I am working with so many children that are NOT developing typically. It is easy to lose track of typical time lines.
I prefer to keep cheat sheets handy. Here are a few of my favorite milestone checklists that I share with parents when appropriate.
Developmental Milestones Resources
Understood has valuable articles related to parenting and behavior in general. They are written from a compassionate perspective.
Center for Disease Control
CDC is also pushing the campaign to educate parents on developmental milestones to catch delays early. They even have an app that parents can download to track their baby’s development.
Pathways has a wealth of knowledge, especially good visual aids for physical development.
Healthy Children is a resource for all things child health. They have proper diaper changing procedure and other handy references for childcare centers.
ASHA is the professional organization for Speech Therapists and if you are a special instructor, you will work with an army of talented SLP’s and they all love them some ASHA.
